Dr. Mohamed El-Guindy Contributes to Regional UNODC Workshop in Cairo

The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Egypt Chapter is pleased to announce the participation of its President, Dr. Mohamed El-Guindy, in a high-level regional workshop organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in collaboration with the Egyptian Public Prosecution Office.

The workshop focused on strengthening legal and operational frameworks to address the evolving threat posed by Foreign Terrorist Fighters (FTFs) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. It brought together senior prosecutors, legal experts, and counter-terrorism specialists from across the region to examine strategic judicial tools and cooperation mechanisms aimed at preventing and countering terrorism and Foreign Terrorist Fighters.

Dr. El-Guindy attendeds the workshop as a UNODC consultant and Advisor to the Egyptian Public Prosecution Office, contributing his expertise in cybersecurity and legal frameworks to the technical sessions and policy discussions.

The workshop centered around three critical areas:

1-Legal and operational tools for extradition and Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA), exploring mechanisms to streamline transnational prosecution efforts and enhance legal cooperation.

2-Use of digital evidence and cross-border case-building, emphasizing the growing importance of securing, authenticating, and presenting electronic evidence across jurisdictions.

3-Regional judicial cooperation and information-sharing mechanisms, aimed at fostering effective collaboration among regional authorities to address shared security challenges.

Dr. El-Guindy’s contribution highlighted the increasing need for integrating digital forensics and cyber investigative techniques into mainstream legal frameworks. His insights reinforced the importance of institutional capacity-building and regional interoperability in facing the multifaceted nature of modern terrorism.

The ISSA Egypt Chapter commends Dr. El-Guindy for his continued leadership in promoting cybersecurity excellence and advancing international cooperation in the service of justice and security.
