We are honored that our president Dr. Mohamed El-Guindy,(UNODC Cybercrime Expert & Advisor To The Public Prosecution Office) participated in the fourth day of the “Integration of Religions and Human Rights: Actors in the Field of Religions” program, organized by Al-Azhar Observatory for Combating Extremism in collaboration with the #BritishUniversity and the Dominican Fathers Institute for Oriental Studies.
Dr. El Guindy led discussions on the digital challenges of our time, including how artificial intelligence can mimic human behavior, its risks in digital fraud, and how new technologies and satellites could affect national and community security. He also highlighted the legal frameworks needed to protect society from misuse of AI, explained in detail by Judge Mostafa Abdel Aziz.
The program also explored social solidarity and justice:
- Dr. Osama Raslan spoke about community cohesion in Islam, highlighting the role of Zakat and charity in strengthening society.
- Dr. G. Sarkis discussed social justice in Christianity and human solidarity, noting that these principles inspired Pope Francis in drafting the Document on Human Fraternity, signed with Imam Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. He also warned about societal risks such as “complicit indifference” and mechanical “unjust justice.”
- Father Charbel examined the misuse of concepts like “minority” and “clash of civilizations” by extremist groups and shared insights from his study of Islamic Sufism.
The day concluded with sports and team-building activities, helping over 50 youth participants strengthen their teamwork and friendships.
Key takeaway: Combining technology, human rights, and interfaith dialogue is essential to building safe, strong, and connected communities in today’s world.
