Dr. Mohamed El Guindy Participates in National Workshop on Countering Terrorist Use of the Internet

Dr. Mohamed El Guindy, President of ISSA Egypt and Senior Cybercrime Expert at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Advisor to the Public Prosecution Office, participated in a national training workshop organized by the Public Prosecution, in cooperation with UNODC and the Institute of Criminal Research and Training.

The workshop was held from 16 to 18 December, in line with the directives of H.E. Counselor Mohamed Shawky, Prosecutor General, and as part of activating the Public Prosecution Training Strategy (2025–2030). The training supports key strategic goals focused on developing the professional capabilities of Public Prosecution members and strengthening local, regional, and international partnerships.

This national workshop comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the Public Prosecution and UNODC to counter the use of the internet, emerging technologies, and online communication platforms for terrorist purposes, and to enhance institutional readiness to address these modern and complex threats.

The workshop covered several important topics, including:

  • How terrorist groups use the internet for propaganda, influence, and recruitment
  • Challenges related to collecting, preserving, and presenting digital evidence
  • Protection and recovery of criminal data in online terrorism investigations
  • National legislation and relevant international and regional legal frameworks
  • Cooperation with service providers and public-private partnerships
  • The use of artificial intelligence and deepfake technologies, and the balance between innovation and legal safeguards
  • Review of practical cases and real-world scenarios

Dr. Mohamed El Guindy’s participation reflects ISSA Egypt’s commitment to supporting national efforts in cybersecurity, cybercrime prevention, and counter-terrorism capacity building, while promoting international best practices in addressing digital threats.
