ISSA Egypt Chapter is pleased to announce that Dr. Mohamed El Guindy, President of ISSA Egypt Chapter and member of the Supreme Council of Universities (SCU) Committee for Computing and Informatics, 2025–2028, participated in the national workshop titled “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education.”
The workshop was organized by the Supreme Council of Universities under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mostafa Refaat, Secretary-General of the SCU, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Mona Hagrass, Assistant Secretary-General. It was held at the Council’s headquarters as part of a collaborative initiative with the Fulbright Commission, aimed at enhancing the SCU’s capacity to keep pace with emerging global trends.
The workshop was led by Prof. Dr. Omar Salem, Director of the Electronic and Knowledge Services Center, with participation from members of the Computer Sector Committee, Chief Information Officers from Egyptian universities representing seven regions, Prof. Dr. Karim Amara, Deputy Director of the Center, and several unit directors.
Prof. Dr. Alison Garrett from Fulbright delivered an insightful presentation on the role of digital transformation in enhancing academic and administrative efficiency in universities. She emphasized that success requires not only advanced technological infrastructure but also a strong culture of change, while addressing key challenges such as funding and cybersecurity.
The workshop also covered strategies for fostering an effective digital culture in universities, including continuous training, incentive programs, and data-driven decision-making. Participants reviewed digital impact indicators such as improved operational efficiency, reduced errors, and enhanced user experience.
Discussions further explored the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in higher education, highlighting AI’s role in data analysis and improving learning outcomes.
The workshop concluded by reaffirming that digital transformation and AI are essential tools for creating flexible, inclusive, and future-ready education systems. The importance of aligning international best practices with the Egyptian context and developing supportive policies to ensure sustainability was strongly emphasized.
